Name of the invention : DEVICE FOR THE GENERATION OF ELECTRIC ENERGY FROM THE SURFACE
Filing number in Italy : n. 102017000134759
Inventors : Renata Archetti and Adrià Moreno Miquel
Description : The invention consists of an energy conversion device that allows to produce electrical energy from wave motion. The system is able to produce energy by exploiting the relative movement between the floating structure and the internal water column. It is composed of a particular turbine capable of converting wave energy into electrical energy when installed off the coast. Inside it has a cavity that allows the entry of sea water, known as "moonpool", while the structure is free to move. The device is able to exploit the relative speed between the wave motion and the oscillation of the object. In this way the production of electricity is maximized.
ADVANTAGES : Compared to other similar technologies the dimensions are reduced no alternative technologies are available for application in small and closed seas it allows to produce renewable energy at a low cost greater efficiency, as it is capable of extracting a greater amount of energy from the waves than others systems
APPLICATIONS : Possibility to convert the energy of the wave motion in seas with a wave climate with a modest energy content, for example the Mediterranean Sea. It makes possible the energy supply in areas that are difficult to reach, such as the smaller islands.
